Expected Mpg On Tdi Auto

Hi all

can any one tell me what mpg i should expect from my 02 tdi 115ps auto with 70,000 miles on her. I get about 30 round town if driven steady and i got 43 from a 70 mph run down the a1 for about 100 miles. Is this about right?

usually get about 35-37 around town - longer runs depend on who is driving - cc gets 45 (depends on speed) me nearer 43 :blink:

Around town the computer recons between 30 & 35, on a run just over 40.

 

Unfortunately since we got ours most of the driving has been around town or dual carriageway with lots of roundabouts. Also through the winter the auxillary heater is using fuel (I dont know if the computer counts this).

 

I keep a spreadsheet of all the fuel I use and this shows an average over the last 1700 miles of 28.37 (so I recon the aux heater is making the difference) :blink:

 

Over Easter we will be doing some proper travelling so I hope to see a big improvement

 

ps I hate to think what its going to be when we take the carvan out this summer

I'm getting about 36mpg from mine which is all stop-start urban driving.. Usually 440 miles between fill-ups.

 

I've started to use Redex but can't see it massively affecting fuel consumption.

Interesting about the Redex. I've thought about trying but have seen a few threads on here in the past that recommend not using it. Does anyone know for sure if it helps or not?

A friend of mine uses Redex in his Passat Tdi (same engine) and he swears by it.

 

This will be the 4th tank of diesel I've used it in..

 

The wife uses the petrol redex in her Puma 1.7 as well..

i seem to be about on the money at least no faults then. :o

I bought this car with 65k on it most of this driven at 56 mph to get the best mpg from it

my friend is tight :o

I was thinking of trying a bottle of injector cleaner but dont know what to use?

Has any body tried any of the Slick 50 type of engine treatment?

I`ll find out what mpg i get when towing on Sunday off to the lakes for a week its 224 miles from here will i do it on one tank ?

Towing, you'll be looking at about 20-25mpg so you should get about 300 miles out of a tank depending on all the usual variables. ;) Andy.
